Data analyst

Organise and check data, then turn it into evidence and charts that support a decision while explaining what the data cannot establish.

Skills to practise

  • Numerical reasoning
  • Spreadsheets and data queries
  • Interpreting results and explaining limitations

Examples of learning routes

The study routes are examples, not admission requirements or a job guarantee. Check school-subject prerequisites, teaching language and recognition of the qualification in your intended work country. For regulated professions, verify training, registration and licensing with the relevant local authority before choosing a programme; university admission does not automatically establish eligibility to practise.

  • Statistics, mathematics, economics or computing with applied analysis
  • A subject you care about supported by relevant data-analysis projects

Try a small task

Use public data or fictional figures to compare school travel times, chart the result and name two factors that could change its interpretation.

Before deciding

A clear result is not always a reliable one: data may be incomplete or the sample unrepresentative.
