Does your qualification fit the programme?
Record the exact award, awarding body, subjects and levels, and graduation year. Compare these with the specific programme’s entry requirements. Separate direct admission from foundation study and ask whether progression from a foundation is conditional.
- IB: check required Higher Level subjects and grades.
- A Levels: check subject combinations; an AS is not a full A Level.
- US qualifications: distinguish the school diploma, AP and GED®, and get a response for your exact award.
Three separate decisions
University admission, school-certificate equivalency and higher-education recognition are separate decisions. If you plan to return to Oman, check the institution, programme, campus and delivery mode with the responsible authority before paying non-refundable amounts. Regulated professions may require additional licensing.

Compare the whole year’s cost
Record tuition, deposits, accommodation, living costs, insurance, travel, and visa or residence costs. Note the currency, quote date and inclusions. Do not base a budget on an unconfirmed scholarship or part-time income whose conditions you have not checked.
- Track scholarship eligibility, deadlines, coverage and renewal conditions separately.
- For Gulf residents, citizenship, residency and funding category can change the application route.
- Ask about deposit refunds if admission or visa conditions are not met.
A manageable decision process
Start with five options and compare three. For each, record verified evidence, an unresolved question, a next action and a date. Review the shortlist with family or a counsellor; search results are not admission offers.
