Published in both Omani and international Afaaq guides. Each course is charged at the rate of its delivering college: do not multiply this rate by all programme credits to infer a total. Non-refundable registration is OMR100, foundation placement/exit testing OMR50, with additional foundation-course charges according to placement. Afaaq does not provide accommodation, transport or meals. Regular admission and scholarship funding have separate rules; this rate does not mean all Omanis pay it or all non-Omanis are exempt.
Regular-route Oman General Education Diploma minima: 75% overall and 65% each in Advanced Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Core English. A-level: at least two full A-levels among required subjects, with C in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics at A or AS. After foundation: at least 25 credits by the end of the second semester, including MATH2107, PHYS2107, CHEM1071 and ENGR1501, with CGPA at least 2.0. These are post-admission progression requirements, not substitutes for school criteria. Teaching is in English; placement determines foundation needs.
Omani route and categories specified in its conditions
Regular admission for Omani school-leavers is through HEAC, with a current-school-year qualification, age no higher than 25 and Ministry equivalency for international qualifications. Afaaq is a separate fee-paying route, also through HEAC after first-round allocation; its guide requires a competitive score at least 97% of the last first-round admitted score for the major, with competition for available seats. Meeting minima does not guarantee admission. Check the current second-round timetable if eligible; do not use the international application dates for an Omani application.
International Afaaq: current-school-year certificate, age no higher than 25, final grades and Ministry equivalency for international qualifications. Residence in Oman alone does not confer eligibility for the citizen route. Oman General Education Diploma/equivalent: 90% overall and 65% each in Advanced Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and English. A-level: at least two full A-levels and C in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics at A or AS; IB Diploma: 30/45 and 4 in Mathematics AA, Chemistry and Physics at HL or SL. The published direct application closed on 19 August 2026. Engineering is not included in SQU's 2026/27 HEAC GCC Oman-school scholarship list; check the specific route rather than assuming a scholarship exists.
Afaaq only: Omani students and international GCC nationals pay full first-semester tuition. The following-semester reduction is 30% with semester GPA at least 3.70 and no grade below B, or 20% with GPA at least 3.50 and no grade below C. A further 5% is available for each subsequent semester maintaining or improving performance, and 10% when moving from honours to distinction, capped at 50%. Leaving the qualifying list restores full fees next semester; re-entry restarts the applicable list rate. This is a subsequent tuition reduction, not a guaranteed entry scholarship; it does not automatically cover other nationalities or living costs. Regular-route funding or a GCC scholarship is separate and must be checked in the award.

Residence in Oman alone does not confer eligibility for the citizen route. International Afaaq requires Oman General Education Diploma 90% overall, English 65%, and study of Advanced Mathematics plus all three sciences with 65% in three of them. A-level: at least two full A-levels, with C in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology at A or AS. IB Diploma: 30/45, Mathematics AA 4 and two of Chemistry, Physics and Biology 4 at HL or SL; do not substitute the regular route's 24-point floor for international criteria. Direct applications closed on 19 August 2026. The HEAC guide for GCC nationals graduating from Oman schools lists Nursing as GSQ47 with 85% overall and the regular-route subject conditions, through its separate HEAC window.
