Identify the route you are applying to
Academic placement may form part of a university course, while another internship may accept only graduates. Graduate development has its own selection and conditions; an entry-level job is a specific employed role. The label Internship does not settle eligibility: Omantel’s published programme, for example, is for recent graduates.
Write your goal in one sentence: “I need an approved placement to complete a module” or “I am seeking an entry-level operations-analysis role.” Ages 13–17 should begin with school projects or introductions arranged with school and parents, rather than applying to graduate programmes.

Use an official channel and record the conditions
Gov.om provides a Ministry of Labour service to register as a job seeker or update some details. Check whether the service applies to you and use its official channel if eligible. Registration does not apply to every vacancy automatically; also check the employer’s route, role and requisition number.
Keep a simple tracker: announcement link, route, employer, eligibility, documents, deadline, application date and next step. Save the announcement because it may change. Do not put ID images or account details in a public tracker or portfolio.

Make the CV point to work you can explain
Choose one project suited to the task and describe the problem, your part, tool, output and checks. An illustrative line is: “Organised synthetic shipment records, verified dates and visualised delays.” This is clearer than claiming excellent analysis skills. Label academic or personal work accurately rather than presenting it as employment.
Prepare a concise CV in the requested language, a small work sample or link and a two-minute explanation. Describe limitations honestly. For group work, identify your own contribution and obtain permission before sharing any non-public employer or university material.
Prepare to explain your decisions during selection
Selection may combine screening, assessment and interviews; Omantel describes such a sequence in its candidate guidance. Do not assume another employer uses the same test. Ask the organiser for the format, instructions and any accessibility arrangements you need.
Practise three genuine examples from study or volunteering: a problem, a team disagreement and an error you corrected. For each, describe the situation, action, result and what you would change. Avoid memorised stories you cannot discuss or tools you cannot actually use.

Before accepting, understand learning, work and cost
Clarify the contracting organisation, location, dates, hours, tasks, supervisor and any payment. For academic training, obtain university confirmation that it counts toward your course before starting. Ask how you will be assessed and what work evidence you may retain afterward.
Compare time, transport, housing and study commitments against the learning offered. Ask who explains safety and confidentiality and how to get help. Do not infer later employment from an internship; any employment offer needs its own clear terms. These are decision questions, not a legal interpretation of a contract.
After applying, review the stage that needs improvement
Set aside a short weekly review. If you are not reaching interviews, revisit eligibility, CV clarity and the relevance of your work sample. If you reach interviews, review how well you explain your contribution and give examples. Results alone do not reveal a particular rejection reason; request feedback where offered.
Keep three notes: something to repeat, something to improve and the next suitable opportunity. Continue a project or skill while waiting, and follow the announcement’s guidance for a reasonable follow-up rather than resubmitting the same application every day.
Frequently asked questions
Can I include a school or university project in my CV?
Yes, if relevant and clearly labelled as a project, with your contribution explained. Do not present it as previous employment or a relationship with the company you researched.
Do all internship programmes accept non-Omani students?
No single rule can be inferred from programme pages. Some routes specify nationality or graduate status. Check the announcement and employer before applying; study location alone does not establish eligibility.
