Skills to practise

  • Mathematics and circuit reasoning
  • Methodical testing
  • Technical writing and safety discipline

Examples of learning routes

The study routes are examples, not admission requirements or a job guarantee. Check school-subject prerequisites, teaching language and recognition of the qualification in your intended work country. For regulated professions, verify training, registration and licensing with the relevant local authority before choosing a programme; university admission does not automatically establish eligibility to practise.

  • Electrical or electronics engineering degree for roles that require one
  • A relevant technical diploma for technician roles, with recognition and progression requirements checked

Try a small task

Use a circuit simulator or a low-voltage educational kit with suitable supervision, and record the design and test result. Do not work on building electrical supplies.

Before deciding

Work may combine office and site settings, and engineering responsibilities differ from technician work. Check professional recognition requirements in the intended country.
