Skills to practise

  • Systems thinking
  • Disciplined data collection
  • Coordination and critical reading

Examples of learning routes

The study routes are examples, not admission requirements or a job guarantee. Check school-subject prerequisites, teaching language and recognition of the qualification in your intended work country. For regulated professions, verify training, registration and licensing with the relevant local authority before choosing a programme; university admission does not automatically establish eligibility to practise.

  • Environmental studies, business, engineering or public policy, depending on the field
  • Specialist training and experience with operational data or improvement projects

Try a small task

Take a fictional claim such as ‘our school reduces waste’, define what to measure, over what period and from which data source, then propose one small improvement.

Before deciding

Compare reporting with operational improvement. An appealing environmental statement is not evidence, and some improvements involve tradeoffs with cost or other needs.
