A national gateway with university-specific rules
The Ministry of Education directs prospective students from around the world to Study in Saudi. Use it to explore institutions and opportunities, then open the university and programme requirements. An Omani national is not a Saudi national, and an Oman resident is not a Saudi resident; state citizenship and actual country of residence rather than relying on “Gulf applicant” alone.

KSU example: overseas, resident and funding routes differ
King Saud University distinguishes non-Saudi applicants outside the Kingdom from resident routes, including internal scholarships and fee-paying bachelor’s study. This is an institutional example, not a rule for every university. Legal Saudi residency has a specific meaning for resident routes; an Oman residence permit does not replace it.
- Confirm the correct application link, category and programmes open to you.
- Ask whether your particular route requires Qudurat, Tahsili or a language test.
- Separate the admission decision from a scholarship decision, coverage and renewal conditions.

School equivalency needs a clear educational sequence
The Ministry explains equivalency procedures for school certificates from abroad or a different education system, including checks on the school, documents and educational sequence. A curriculum label alone cannot establish the status of an IB, A Level or American-diploma qualification.
- Prepare the graduation award, earlier transcripts and awarding-body details.
- Request the attestation and translation checklist for your case and the submission channel.
- Distinguish Oman’s General Education Diploma from the American GED if the abbreviation appears in your correspondence.

Build a comparable programme shortlist
Start with the Study in Saudi university directory, then compare two or three programmes using their official pages. Record city, teaching language, awarding institution and study mode, keeping unconfirmed points as questions rather than assumptions.
- Is admission directly to the major or to a common route with later allocation?
- Are placements available to my applicant category, and who organises them?
- What does the written funding offer cover: tuition, housing or living costs, and for how long?

Resolve recognition and relocation before committing
Before enrolling, check the institution, programme and study mode with Oman’s Ministry of Higher Education. Compare studying in a Saudi city with staying in Oman using full costs, family support and travel, not map distance alone.
- Save written admission and funding decisions, and verify entry and residency arrangements for your category.
- Request a separate answer about professional licensing if your intended field is regulated.

Frequently asked questions
Does Study in Saudi mean every programme is free?
No. Check the type of opportunity and the written financial offer; a portal listing does not establish funding for you.
I live in Muscat. Should I choose the Saudi resident route?
Do not choose it merely because you live in Oman. Confirm your category using your citizenship and actual residency.
Do KSU’s requirements apply to all Saudi universities?
No. The example shows why you must read the policy for your chosen institution, programme and intake year.
