Start with your category and cycle
Identify your qualification, graduation year and applicant category before choosing programmes. HEAC’s first-degree page brings together the guide, supplements and notices; a later notice may amend an original condition. Use your own cycle and record the review date. If your case involves a resit, international award or special category, write a precise question instead of relying on a classmate’s experience from another cycle.

Compare the programme code and campus
Create a row for each option: programme code, final award, institution and campus, teaching language, required subjects and results, and funding type. Travel and study arrangements can differ between campuses with similar names. Add a personal reason, such as a project you tried or work you want to explore. Keep that separate from eligibility: enthusiasm does not replace a compulsory condition, and meeting it does not establish personal fit.
Build preferences you can explain
Compare options using the same questions: What will I study? Which work could I explore? Can I manage accommodation or commuting? What is an acceptable alternative? Read the current preference instructions. A previous year’s competitive result is not a promise for this year. Do not add a programme you would not want simply because entry appears easier. Keep the reason for each preference and a question that could change it.
Separate four jobs in your calendar
System registration, permitted updates to information or preferences, responding to an offer, and institution registration are separate jobs. Record the published deadline, completion method and evidence to retain for each. After an online action, check the displayed status and save the relevant reference or receipt. Follow HEAC notices rather than relying on an old screenshot or a date from another cycle.

Prepare a private results file
Gather the documents actually requested and check names, subjects and results for consistency. If a result or certificate is pending, ask about the procedure and deadline for your case. Keep correspondence and each document’s status. An initial guidance conversation can use a checklist and summary; do not send identity documents or your complete record to an unverified address.
Test the practical study plan
Illustrative case: one programme is near home and another in a different governorate. Compare content, support, cost and weekly time; ask about attendance, placements and teaching schedules. Leave the family discussion with a preferred option and reason, an acceptable alternative and one question that could change the order. Assign that question an owner and review date before the next stage, rather than deciding on distance alone.
Frequently asked questions
Does meeting the minimum guarantee a place?
No. Separate conditions for consideration from the selection outcome. Use the programme code and current instructions, not a previous year’s result as a guarantee.
Should I upload documents here?
These guidance pages do not collect documents. Begin with a summary and use the official channel for required submissions.
